Ann Arbor, Michigan band State released one EP, the 1983 Ron Asheton (Stooges) produced "No Illusions". Classic American hardcore that went the collectible route, this has finally been reissued along with 34 other tracks on the Nixed Life CD. The original EP is just great, with good production and a band that kicked ass. Along with the original record, you get some decent-sounding demos, live tracks from radio shows and even 4 songs that Ron Asheton played guitar on in 1980/1981. The usual GTA booklet is here with a band history that includes mentions of Negative Approach, the Necros and Das Damen among others. There are also some great pictures and flyers from the early 1980′s which is a nice extra. If you like early 80′s hardcore and don’t already have this excellent collection, you’re doing yourself a disservice.
